Denise Smith was born in inner city San Francisco, a child of a biracial union in a time of segregation. Trouble seemed to follow her family. Some of her friends turned to drugs, some were incarcerated. In contradistinction, at age 14, Denise entered an internship at a real estate office though her high school. She had found her niche in life.
By age 29 she was the sole owner and C.E.O. of Royal Realtors. By the time she was 30 years old, Denise Smith owned a million dollars worth of real estate. For ten years, she was the host of the “Real Estate Beat” on Soul Beat Television. She was the president of the Oakland Association of Realtors. She served two terms as President of the Women’s Counsel of Realtors. Since 1998, she has been the president of the Business And Professional Women of Allen Temple Baptist Church, a group that raises money for inner youth scholarships. She is a noted philanthropist who has helped many people achieve their dream of home ownership. Denise Smith was one of the first women ever ordained as a deacon in the 95 year history of Oakland’s Allen Temple Baptist Church. “Rags To Real Estate: One Woman’s Journey To Empowerment” is her first book. Her motto is: “If you have the deep determination to succeed, you will not fail.”
