Jessica Wakefield thinks she'll have a terrible time on her family's fishing trip to Sun Lake. She doesn't want to touch a fish, or even worse, a worm!

But after spending one day on shore while everyone else is out fishing on the lake, Jessica is miserable. Her new friend, Jilly, turns out to be mean and bossy. Jessica is sure that her twin sister, Elizabeth, and the rest of the family are having a great time. When she finally gives fishing a try, the result is a jumbo surprise for everyone—especially Jessica.
