In July of 2006, a series of gruesome murders occurred throughout the United States terminating in Florida. Although there was no apparent motive or connection among the victims, even the most inexperienced investigator immediately noticed similarities in the post-mortem treatment of the bodies. Solving the case was due almost entirely to the unlikely teamwork of an ex-Miami detective and a British art student. Using their complementary skills and expertise, they demonstrated that intellect and intuition can be as important as technology and manpower in an investigation. Today, the FBI uses this case in training its field agent cadets in investigative techniques. The case is referred to as The Tsantsa Homicides. It is classified under the acronym of SKRD: Serial Killing and Ritual Decapitation.
