Eldric is a woodcarver in the Greenwood when the elder who taught him vanishes into unmaking. The village forgets Thamir ever lived. Eldric cannot. He carries a warm sigil, a wrong pattern, and a question the western fog seems already to have heard.
His path crosses Maereth, fleeing Ithalan with evidence that the Concord's Standard Script does not preserve truth; Corren, who walks fracture-lines that the surveyors mark as stable, then abandon; and Tharn, who reads resonance in stone and pays for Sight in blood. Hunted toward the same horizon, they have only one road left: through the Weirlands, where fog waits, ash forgets its own weight, and Names older than speech endure. At the heart of the fracture, something has been waiting that requires a witness.
