Rose Fratt is a widow in a tough situation. She is getting close to her time to have her baby, and she is ready to face life as a single mother. Her husband was killed in a fire and she doesn’t want to think of marriage again.

Then, her sister and her mother present her with a plan. They’ve decided to give her away in marriage to an old family friend… a plan that Rose doesn’t like and one she won’t stand to have.

Faced with the option to marry or be on the streets, Rose is desperate. She turns to the paper in hopes of finding a job to support herself and her new baby, but nothing turns up. Instead, she finds an ad for a rancher out West.

Leaving it all to chance, Rose heads out on the journey, but when a surprise happens to her on the stagecoach, she doesn’t know if she’s going to make it. Will Rose find the happiness she has been searching for? Will she ever love again? Will she make it to Montana in time?
