After being homeschooled since kindergarten and sheltered because of her disfigured face, Magnolia decides to enter high school to try and be a “normal” and happy teenager. Bullies tease and ridicule right and left, yet to her surprise, Magnolia finds friends and even romance through art and theater. But through heartbreak and constant rejection from her classmates, Magnolia questions her worth and decision to participate in the fall play, The Rainmaker, where everyone will stare at her face. With her mom, granny, and new friends by her side, Magnolia must choose to overlook her weaknesses and accept those ready to love and accept her.
