Teresa was a teenage girl growing up on Chicago's Little Village neighborhood and she seemed a typical young woman. But she had a secret, a secret that her mother and her aunt had always stressed she must guard carefully. She was a very pretty and carefree girl, but she had not been born a girl--not in her body, at any rate. She had no real memory of being anyone other than Teresa but as she grew she came to understand that this part of her must be hidden from the world.

But some secrets cannot be hidden forever.

And Teresa soon learned the world could be terribly complicated for a young woman like her.
