The third novel in this trilogy, following 'Hearts and Bones' and 'Blood Red Roses'. Set in 1876 the novel follows the life of Hannah Trevor, pregnant and about to marry her lover. Trouble looms in the shape of Dr Samuel Clinch, who is bringing charges against her over the death of a patient. The discovery of Clinch's corpse disrupts her plans.
