More Details

Ape No Evil is a wildlife fantasy novel that resonates well with Teens or Adult readers - anyone who loves animal stories and silly humor.

Loosely based on a true incident, the book tackles sensitive issues surrounding family, friends, love and revenge. Set in the African Savanna, it conveys a message of love, understanding and tolerance for the special (and different) among us.

The reader gets lots of laughs as they accompany Leon, a special young lion and a survivor of a buffalo raid, as he escapes discrimination and indifference in his pride. He goes in search of his mom who had been previously evicted.

The story takes a humorous look at mothers and introduces the readers to some strong, eccentric and peculiar moms who spice the book with comedy and weird acts of love.

Although nobody seems to know his mom, the journey proves to be the growth experience of his life. Seeing new places and making lots of friends, he learns that the savanna is not homogeneous - in the south, many are fed up with life. Their options: look for a hungry crocodile, close your eyes and sprint into the forest surrounding Buffalo Mountain, or look for the escarpment and throw yourself off. The opulent East has freethinkers who talk too much and end up telling lies. There are deft hyenas, ambitious aardvarks, domineering lionesses, innovative baboons and arrogant cubs that pervert the society with their talents and/or unbecoming behavior. The West has busybodies who are at wits' end; they live dangerously (and too close to humans). Those with a zoo mentality don't survive here - they just disappear.

Leon is mothered every step of the way and soon realizes that moms everywhere are indeed not invincible. While at a dead end, his hope evolves to understanding and he gets ready for closure...
