Jacob Abraham Camille Pissarro (10 July 1830 – 13 November 1903) was a Danish-French painter known as the “father of impressionism.” He is perhaps most famous for his light, elegant paintings of the French countryside and his Parisian cityscapes. Born on the island of Saint Thomas, then part of the Danish West Indies, he lived much of his life in Paris.
