Meet Raven Wright, the visionary behind Urban Nature for Kids, a Detroit-based non-profit organization with a mission to empower young minds through Earth Science education. Raven's journey began during her time at Wayne State University, where she pursued Urban Planning graduate studies and established Urban Nature for Kids five years ago.
With an academic background that includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and a Master's in Urban Planning, Raven's expertise extends to being a Supervisor GIS analyst for the city of Detroit. Throughout her graduate school experience, her primary focus was on Geographic Information Systems.
During her teaching tenure at elementary schools (K-6) while pursuing her studies, Raven observed the disparities in Earth Science exposure among children in low-income communities and disadvantaged areas. This realization fueled her passion to create and establish Urban Nature for Kids, driven by the belief that early exposure to Earth Science career fields can positively impact children's lives.
