Mieke Goethals (1971) grew up in Kuurne, Belgium. She studied interior design and attended night school for classes on graphic design. Since 2010, she ran her own design studio: Creamanie. In 2013, she and her husband bought a loft in Roeselare (Belgium) and rebuilt it into a coworking space: Crealoft. Initially, Mieke designed both communication material and interiors. After, she focused mainly on graphic design for companies. As a child, Mieke already drew, painted, crafted, and sewed an entire fantasy world. When she decided to do something with all stories and fantasies that had lived in her head since her childhood, Mieke started designing children's books, her ultimate childhood dream. All of her books brought together her two biggest passions: drawing and interiors. In 2021, she passed away at the age of 50, leaving a legacy of six children's books published in eight different languages.
