Þorvaldur has degrees in modern art from the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Holland. He later studied in the philosophy department at the University of Iceland.
He now works as an author and an artist, and has written for television, radio and the stage. He is perhaps most well known, however, as a children's author, of the Blíðfinnur books which have been translated into many languages.
