Siba Al-Harez is a pen-name. The boldness of the themes tackled in her first novel The Others called for the use of a pen-name. Thought to be a Saudi Shii' female author from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, the author addresses some intricate and sensitive issue such as minority and alienation, political detention, sectarianism in society, homosexuality i.e., Lesbianism and experimentation. Those themes borderline repulsive to the readership of her countrymen and countrywomen yet her style and eloquent phrasing met with admiration even form those who were abhorred by the themes.
